Ellen Bunting is the Manager at the Michigan Data Collaborative, a division of

Medical Center Information Technology at the University of Michigan Health

System. MDC developed and maintains a state-wide multi-payer database in

support of the Michigan Primary Care Transformation Project (MiPCT). This

demonstration project, supported by CMS\CMMI, the Michigan Department of

Health and Human Services (MDHHS), BCBSM, BCN, and Priority Health, is the

largest multi-payer patient centered medical home (PCMH) pilot in the nation,

with approximately 400 practices and 1500 physicians participating. The

project is now moving toward a sustainable model to improve care

throughout Michigan, again with the support of MDHHS and the State

Innovation Model’s (SIM) PCMH Initiative and commercial payers. MDC

develops measures and displays outcome and utilization data in dashboards

accessible by physician organizations across the state, who use this

information to improve patient care. Bunting has worked in the field of health

care informatics for more than 20 years at the University of Michigan Health

System serving physician data needs, and using detailed patient level data to

develop algorithms for analytics and outcomes reporting. Bunting also

manages the Michigan PGIP Analytics Collaborative (MPAC) which provides

analytical support to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan PGIP participating

physician organizations.
